Khaled Abdelrahman Shamaa

Khaled Abdelrahman SHAMAA was born on 15 January 1964. He served as Assistant Deputy Foreign Minister for Disarmament Affairs at the Egyptian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and previously served at Egyptian Embassies/Permanent Missions in Brasilia, Pretoria and New York.
Khaled Abdelrahman Shamaa has worked in the areas of Disarmament, Non-Proliferation, International Security, Humanitarian Affairs, Transnational Threats, as well as the Non-Aligned Movement.
He holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering from Cairo University and a Masters Degree in International Affairs from George Washington University. He is married and father of two girls and one boy.
After the revolution of January 2011 Egypt lived a period of massive turmoil, a short experience of political dominance of the Muslim Brotherhood was brought to an end in July 2013. Former army chief and defense minister Abdulfattah al-Sisi was elected president in May 2014: Will he succeed in reconciling the Egyptian society and restore Egypt’s leadership role in the Middle East, especially in view of the many challenges facing the region?
