For two decades, the West fought the so-called war on terror in Afghanistan – with little success. Following the withdrawal of the USA and its partners, the Taliban are once again ruling Kabul with an iron fist. And neighboring Pakistan is still being challenged by Islamists. India, on the other hand, is making a leap forward as a global power – but even in times of economic growth, it remains a nation with major challenges.
